Prof Damien McDonnell, OBE, chief executive of Science Services Ltd, is the first chairman of Northern Ireland's Science Industry Panel, MATRIX. A business led expert panel formed to advise the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment on how Northern Ireland's R&D and science and technology strengths can be used to better commercial success, it's funded through the Skills and Science Fund Package. MATRIX is tasked with identifying the strategic technology priorities for Northern Ireland, and with ensuring NI takes full advantage of its science and research base for the benefit of the economy.
